The Supervisory Board of Petrokemija Plc. has reviewed the company’s financial results in the first half year of 2021. In this period, Petrokemija generated a net profit of HRK 50 million compared to HRK 238 million of net profit generated in the same period last year. Comparing the results without non-recurring items, net profit in the first six months of 2021 amounts to HRK 102 million, as opposed to HRK 251 million in the first half year of 2020.
Commenting on the results, the President of the Management Board of Petrokemija Plc. Davor Žmegač said that the company’s result in the first half of 2021 was significantly affected by high prices of natural gas, a sharp increase of CO2 emission charges and lower sales volume. Lower sales volume resulted from the suspension of production due to the planned overhaul in early 2021 and the effects of the earthquake. “Negative effects were partially mitigated by higher selling prices and business optimisation measures, in particular risk management optimisation relating to CO2 emission allowance charges”, said Žmegač.
