A new combustion air preheater for primary reformers manufactured by American company BD Heat Recovery is going to be installed in our ammonium manufacturing plant in January 2021 during overhaul. The heat recovery system using the energy of waste gases from the primary reformer will increase the overall energy efficiency of the plant.
This will result in a decreased loss of heat and directly reduce the input of natural gas used as burner for the primary reformer, thus allowing the plant to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions. The installation of the new air preheater will reduce maintenance costs for the replacement of damaged glass tubes and for the cleaning of corrosion products of the currently installed block exchangers made of carbon steel.
So far, this is the highest investment by Petrokemija Plc planned for next year.
