An international scientific and professional symposium on "100 Years of Industrial Ammonia Synthesis – Recent Advances" was held in Kutina. As Tomislav Bolanča, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, emphasized, these conferences are important from the professional point of view. They are also good for promoting the importance of the chemical industry for our society within the Republic of Croatia. At the opening of the symposium, President of Management Board of Petrokemija d.d., Davor Žmegač said that the company is on the right track.
"We have made a big step in stabilizing the company, significant shifts in the market, but there is still a lot of work ahead us related to the organization of the process in order to continue to work successfully for the benefit of Kutina and the whole of Croatia. Engineers and workers are the most important part of Petrokemija. New knowledge is important, because without it there is no progress or development", Žmegač emphasized.
The lecture on the first 50 years of Petrokemija and the production of ammonia in Kutina was given by Hrvoje Lisac, Assistant Production Manager and Dejan Mudrić, ammonia production plant manager, while experts from KBR, Siemens and Clariant, spoke about the latest achievements of industrial synthesis of ammonia. The symposium was organized by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the University of Zagreb, Section for petrochemistry, and the Scientific Council for Oil and Gas Economy and Energy of the Croatian Academy of Sciences. The general sponsor was Petrokemija d.d.
