In Petrokemija d.d. the meeting of the Council of the Association of Chemical Industry of the Croatian Chamber of Economy was attended by Marco Mensink, General Director of the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC). Representatives of companies from various fields of chemical industry such as Saponia, Chromos Agro, Meteor Group - Labud, Messer Croatia Plin and others participated at the meeting after a tour around Petrokemija plants.
"I am happy that we could host you, having in mind the good long-lasting cooperation that contributed to the networking and linking of the Croatian association with other national associations of Europe. I would like to point out that, in 2017, 360 registered companies employed 5871 workers in this field, which makes up 2.5 percent of the employees in the Croatian industry.", said Davor Žmegač, President of the Association of Chemical Industry and President of the Management Board of Petrokemija d.d., expressing pleasure that the meeting was held in the leading and largest company in the chemical industry of Croatia.
On behalf of the European Chemical Industry Council, the meeting was welcomed by Marco Mensink, thanking for the invitation and the opportunity to visit Petrokemija and Croatia. One of the main topics of the meeting was the promotion and representation of the Croatian chemical industry's interests during the presidency of the Croatia in the Council of Europe. "The main question for you is whether you can take advantage of these six months during which Croatia will preside over the EU to impose topics that are important to you. Do not think that you are small and do not hesitate to contact us if you need any help.", Mr. Mensink said.
At the meeting of the council it was concluded that a program of informative and lobbying activities will be prepared which will be presented to the EU members during the Croatian presidency, concerning the interests of the industry in general and especially of the chemical industry. The aim is to strengthen measures to facilitate the business in the chemical industry in the EU, which is very important for further development of Petrokemija's sustainable business.
